PETITION NOW CLOSED
Australia Day 2011 was when dollar milk was introduced on our shelves.
Since then, hundreds of dairy farmers have gone broke thanks to being bullied into an unfair price for a quality product.
On inception, dollar milk was already seen as unsustainable by those in the industry. The cost of production simply could not match the price.
It is now 2019. 8 years on. 8 years of inflation. In real terms, that inflation should put dollar milk at ~$1.16.
We ourselves have been fooled.
We sighed with relief at the announcement that supermarkets have scrapped dollar milk, and increased the price by 10c/L.
We shouldn’t have.
We should be angry at the fact the supermarkets aren’t even willing to match inflation.
Sign this petition to support fair milk prices for our farmers.
Supermarkets need to know farmers are for more than cheap PR opportunities!
